Sewing Portfolio

Below are smaller images of some of the things I have sewn since starting in October of 2003. You can see my progress as I move up into doing some more advanced things as well as choosing more elaborate fabrics.

Clothing: Tops

Simplicity 9411 View E
This is view E heavily modified. I removed the collar and replaced it with a nice satin piping. I also replaced the sleeves with 3/4 sleeves and brought in the waist a lot to make it hug the body in a more trendy manner.
Simplicity 9411 View E
This is a shirt I made for one of my sisters. It has shorter, cropped sleeves and I embroidered a small daisy in a purple pastel color motif along the left side. The collar was brought in a bit and I left the sides in the original relaxed style.
Simplicity 9411 View E
This is an unmodified version of View E. I used a cotton interlock from Wazoodle.
Simplicity 8589
Here we have a maternity blouse made for a friend who is going through her first pregnancy. I have made other articles of clothing that I will soon put up on the website. I have to run back to Raleigh to get pictures of them though, since she's already wearing them :)

(#46 in Patterns Listing)

I'm afraid the picture I took isn't really doing justice to this shirt. It is meant to be tightly fitted, which means it wouldn't go over the wide shoulders of my dressform. I made it with a rayon challis from Hancock's Fabrics. It took roughly 2 days to complete, because the fabric kept sliding all over the place and I had to take my time. It still looks very nice, though I may try it in a cotton/lycra knit in the future.

This is the BEST shirt pattern that I own. I have heard many good things about this tshirt pattern from other seamstresses, but now I know first-hand that it is the best out there. I have made two of these beauties. It's not as tight as people have made it out to be, so when I make another one I will be taking in the waist a bit to give it some more shape. Still a decent shirt though and it matches my skirts really well!
Simplicity 5060 View F
This is the sushi shirt!!! I love this shirt! Well actually, I love the fabric print, but not the actual style of the shirt :P This is made from a great, wasabi green sushi printed cotton that I got from Equilter.com. The pattern was pretty rough around the edges and way oversized!!!
McCall's 4107 View E
This is my medieval bodice for the Maryland Renaissance Faire. I actually modified the heck out of this pattern by merging all of the pieces together so that I ended up with 2 instead of 4. The fabric is from Gstreet. The sizing was completely off. For the size I selected, the finished bust was 40"... way too large. I ended up removing about 4 inches from each panel and 2 from the center back to get it to fit.

This is my beautiful Chanel jacket. I love this thing. I loved making it and can't wait to make another one!!!

Clothing: Dresses and Skirts

New Look 6065
This is a misses dress with gathers at the center between the breasts. It was made from a lovely 100% cotton from EQuilter.com. I made this dress for the E3, Mythic Entertainment company dinner.
Simplicity 5503
This hideous fabric just about drove me insane. I made this skirt out of a polyester silky print from Joann's. It's terrible and horrible to work with. It would not press to save my life! I rarely wear this simply because the memory has seared my brain cells.
New Look 6274
This is a cute little skirt I made out of a floral knit from Joann's. I made it in about an hour. It has a side zipper and drapes nicely.
Simplicity 9891
Here is my Halloween '04 dress. I wanted to make this out of a white fabric, but unfortunately white fabric was in great shortage this year. While the pattern was not what I thought it would be, I still went ahead and made the best of it. I made this in a stretchy fabric so I could get a tight fit and it worked out well. I would have gone up a pattern size if I had used a woven.

Clothing: Infants and Toddlers

Kwik Sew 2707
This is a zip-up jacket that I made for my ex-boyfriend's nephew, who is due in April. I embroidered a small Nemo on the front of the jacket.

Clothing: Undergarments

Simplicity 9958
These are some boxer shorts that I made for my ex-boyfriend. They only take about an hour to make.

Quilting Projects

Self Drafted Pattern
This quilt was a labor of love. I spent about two weeks working on the design, cutting, and sewing of this baby quilt. It was also the first thing I did with my Rose.

Home Decor

Kitchen Drapes
Cute little valences done up in an apple cotton print from EQuilter.com. They are fully lined so as to protect the print from sun damage and fading.
Living Room Drapes
These livingroom drapes are made of Waverly Capulet Stripe fabric. I love working with this fabric. I learned a lot from doing the bedroom drapes, so the living room drapes turned out to be much much nicer. They look storebought to me ;)
